Project: Taj Halab touristic complex

Year: 2010 - 2011
Location: Aleppo, Syria
Client: Mace International Limited (UK)
Main Project Features: Bena Properties, a subsidiary of Cham Holding Syria, requested that Mace conduct the study of a touristic complex containing two hotels, a large mall, and ancillary facilities.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Construction of a cement plant in Northeastern Aleppo

Year: 2006 - 2009
Location: Ein Al-Arab, 160 km northeast of Aleppo, Syria
Client: Orascom Construction Industries O.C.I. (Egypt)
Main Project Features: This state-of-the-art cement plant was constructed by Orascom Construction Industries for Orascom Cement initially. Lafarge Group eventually acquired the plant. The annual production capacity of the cement plant is approximately 3 million tons, covering over one third of local needs.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests, prepared the geotechnical report and supervised the execution of geotechnical work.

Project: Construction of a training center in an electrical power plant

Year: 1996
Location: Jandar, Homs area, Syria
Client: Pacific Consultants International (Japan)
Main Project Features: The construction of the training center was an important supplementary part of the construction of the electrical power plant in Jandar.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Construction of wheat silos

Year: 1986 - 1987
Location: Northern Syria
Client: Fortschritt-Landmaschien (Germany)
Main Project Features: The Syrian Ministry of Agriculture requested that Fortschritt-Landmaschien construct seven large silos for the conservation of wheat in at Al-Bab, Menbej, Khan Touman, Idlib, Lattakia, Jable and Tal Kalakh.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Construction of facilities in the Al-Tayem petroleum field

Year: 1983 - 1984
Location: Northern Syria
Client: Woodward – Clyde Group (USA)
Main Project Features: The exploitation of the Al-Tayem petroleum field (first oil field discovered near Deir-Zor) included the construction of residential and recreational facilities.

Project: Development of 16,000 hectares in the Khabour Valley

Year: 2008 - 2012
Location: Northeast Syria, Meyadine area
Client: Bureau Technique de Développement B.T.D (Lebanon)
Main Project Features: The General Organization of Land Development in the Lower Euphrates requested that B.T.D conduct a detailed study for the development of 16,000 hectares situated in a semi-dry area of the Khabour river valley in the north of Meyadine.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Water loss reduction project in Aleppo

Year: 2011 - 2012
Location: Aleppo, Syria
Client: Dorsch International Consultants (Germany)
Main Project Features: The General Water Supply Authority in Aleppo requested that Dorsch perform a complete study to mitigate extensive water loss in canalizations, equilibrium tanks, and water stations in Aleppo.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the preliminary geotechnical report.

Project: Development of 27,000 hectares in the Euphrates valley

Year: 2004 - 2011
Location: Northeastern Syria, Deir El-Zor area
Client: G.Cat Jersey Limited (UK)
Main Project Features: The General Organization of Land Development in the Lower Euphrates requested that G.Cat Jersey Limited perform a detailed study for the development of 27,000 hectares distributed across seven zones between Deir El-Zor and Abou-Kamal in a semi-dry area of the Euphrates valley.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory and insite tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Lower Euphrates Valley development

Year: 1987 - 1989
Location: Northeast Syria, Deir El-Zor area
Client: Gersar-Cnabrl (France)
Main Project Features: The General Organization of Land Development in the Lower Euphrates requested that Gersar-Cnabrl perform the study that led to the development of the semi-dry area along the lower Euphrates river between Deir El-Zor and the Iraqi border.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the factual geotechnical report.

Transportation Infrastructure


Project: Construction of bridges and viaducts for the Lattakia-Ariha Highway

Year: 2003 - 2008
Location: Northwest Syria, Lattakia - Ariha area
Client: Consultancy Group (Lebanon), technical service provider for M. A. Al-Kharafi (Kuwait)
Main Project Features: The Ministry of Communications in Syria requested that M. A. Al-Kharafi construct the highway between Lattakia and Ariha. The six-lane expressway is 98 km long over mountainous regions and includes 16 viaducts and a large number of bridges.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work and performed the laboratory tests.

Project: Damascus - Jordanian border railway study

Year: 2006 - 2007
Location: South Damascus
Client: ECG group, technical service provider for Italferr (Italy)
Main Project Features: The Syrian Railway Authority requested that Italferr perform a complete study for the construction of a high-speed line between Damascus and the Jordanian border. The line is about 110 km in length, and includes 6 medium-sized stations as well as a large station in Daraa.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Highway development study for Northeastern Syria

Year: 1982 -1983
Location: Northeastern Syria, Hassake area
Client: Dar Al-Handasah, Shair and Partners (Lebanon)
Main Project Features: The Syrian Ministry of Communication requested that Dar Al-Handasah, Shair and Partners perform the study that led to the improvement of the road network in northeastern Syria. This study included the construction of several bridges.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work for bridges.

Project: Study and work supervision for the Aleppo-Hassake highway and Homs bypass

Year: 1979 - 1981
Location: Northeast Syria
Client: Dar Al-Handasah, Nazih Taleb (Lebanon)
Main Project Features: The Syrian Ministry of Communication requested that Dar Al-Handasah, Nazih Taleb perform the study and supervise the execution of works for both the Aleppo-Hassake highway and the Homs bypass.
Activities performed: supervised the geotechnical work during the execution of the highway and the bypass.

Project: Construction of the electrical power plant in the Lafarge Cement Plant

Year: 2008
Location: Ein Al-Arab, 160 km northeast of Aleppo, Syria
Client: Syrian Cement Company, a branch of Lafarge Group (France)
Main Project Features: The Lafarge Cement Plant constructed a thermal power plant with a capacity of 60 MW in order to secure its own electrical needs.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Construction of the Aleppo thermal power plant at Jibrin

Year: 1997 - 1998
Location: Aleppo area, Syria
Client: Attassi Group, technical service provider for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (Japan)
Main Project Features: The Aleppo Power Public Authority requested that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries construct a turnkey project gas power plant with a design capacity of 1,000 MW. This power plant, located in Jibrin to the east of Aleppo, is the largest in the country and includes 5 conical chimneys.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed the laboratory tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Construction of the DesGas integrated project

Year: 1995
Location: Deir El-Zor area, Syria
Client: Oweiss Group, technical service provider for ConocoPhillips Syria Des. Gas. Ltd (USA)
Main Project Features: ConocoPhillips, in partnership with the Syrian Petroleum Corporation and TotalFinaElf, constructed an integrated natural gas project known as DesGas in the Deir El-Zor area. The complex utilized the associated natural gas from the Deir El-Zor oil fields. Conoco acted as lead operator.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work, performed laboratory tests and prepared the geotechnical report.

Project: Construction of the Jandar electrical power plant

Year: 1991
Location: Jandar, Homs area, Syria
Client: Oyo Corporation, technical service provider for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (Japan)
Main Project Features: The Syrian Ministry of Electricity requested that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries construct a turnkey gas power plant project in Jandar. The project involved the construction of a combined cycle power plant consisting of two 300 MW generators arranged in sequence.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work and performed laboratory tests.

Project: Construction of the gas pipeline between the Djbessa field and the Homs petroleum refinery

Year: 1984 - 1985
Location: Northeast Syria
Client: Technoexport (former Czechoslovakia)
Main Project Features: The Syrian Ministry of Petroleum requested that Technoexport construct a pipeline between the Djbessa gas field and the Homs refinery. The pipeline extended through several hundred kilometers of arid and difficult lands.
Activities performed: Conducted soil investigation work and performed laboratory tests.
